Tapioca
NAME | Tapioca starch |
ORIGIN | starch from dried cassava roots, native to South and Central America |
INCI | TAPIOCA STARCH |
Also known as the 'Pearl of Japan', tapioca starch is mainly used in cosmetics to naturally control the viscosity of a product’s texture. Its gelling effect allows it to naturally thicken the initial texture if this one is too liquid, and to facilitate its use. Tapioca starch also has properties for the skin: in addition to being a moisturizing agent, it absorbs sebum secretions, allowing it to mattify the skin tone.
