Focus ingredient: The shea butter

Today we are back for a new article "Focus Ingredient" about Shea. Present in the composition of our soaps, it is an ingredient that has a thousand virtues!

Native to the African continent, shea butter comes from a tree that grows on the dry soils of the savannah, whose longevity can reach 3 centuries! The harvest takes place from June to September. Its fruit looks like an avocado, composed of a pulp and an almond. Traditionally, shea butter is recovered through its almonds which are crushed, then roasted, ground and finally reduced to a paste. To eliminate its "imperfections", the resulting paste is immersed in water. The manufacture of butter is completed by its mixing and cooking.

Being a fatty substance, its powers are regenerating, soothing, softening, protective and anti-aging. You can find this vegetable butter in various forms, such as cream, lotion or butter. Its precious ingredients maintain the skin's elasticity because it stimulates collagen production. In addition, its properties help to fight brown spots.

This butter is composed of vitamins A, D and E but also of fatty acids that have the same properties as the intercellular lipids that protect our skin. In addition, it has anti-inflammatory properties. You will discover the multitude of its actions!

For your children you can use it to heal the skin when there are scratches or insect bites for example. You just have to melt a small amount of butter in your hand and massage it into the affected area.

You can also use it in the bath! Just melt it in your bath water, shea butter will soothe your dry skin and relax you.

In winter, don't hesitate to use it as a lip balm or to relieve the skin of the nose, irritated by handkerchiefs!

Finally, shea butter can be used as a moisturizing and protective treatment for dry, curly or frizzy hair, but also for hair damaged by colouring, bleaching or even perms. It is applied as a mask, over the lengths.

This natural butter with a thousand properties is useful for the whole family!

Know that our soap bars contain it. Shea butter is part of their base and helps to moisturize your children's skin and yours. Moreover, the cold saponification of our soaps allows the conservation of its benefits!
